Can’t wait to read that article! I’ve been meaning to look into the musculoskeletal research. One of the symptoms that moved me towards HT was a chronic hip injury that seemed to come out of nowhere and wouldn’t resolve. After a short time on HT it left. Joints also less painful. Staying active is so crucial that I wonder if this set of symptoms should be taken more seriously when considering HT. Who wants to move if it hurts? Just like who wants to have sex if it hurts? Happy Halloween, Susan! Hope your DEXA comes back with good news! Let us know! If you want. 🎃

Nancy - that's so interesting and helpful to know that your chronic hip injury disappeared after a short time on HRT. These are the kinds of personal experiences I want to hear about with HRT; how many other women are suffering in their bodies but could be helped by HRT? I agree that staying active is crucial, which of course is challenging when your body feels like it belongs to your grandmother with all the aches and stiffness. Happy Halloween to you too Nancy; I just got my results and will be talking about them in an upcoming Substack! 🎃

Really great article, Susan! I love that you noticed the distinction between GSM, which is an official term, and the musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause which is not yet but is being proposed. I hope it gets adopted. As you point out GSM was coined in 2014 and it's taken this long ...10 years ... for word to really begin to get out. This actually isn't unusual in the medical world as these things take time to get out. Keep up the great job on your Substack and in life!

Excellent exaltation of happens. So thorough and with the details rarely explained. Pilates is helping me, big time. Ballroom dancing, as well--though a sprained ankle, also common, lad me off of that for more than a month. This is hard and needs to be talked about. "No bones about it," indeed.

I love hearing that Pilates is helping you big time; I've seen it's magic work with my clientele for years. And ballroom dancing is such a great way to move your body outside of it's usual patterns- good choice! But I hope your sprained ankle heals quickly. XO
