Thanks for the gift ideas!! You just made shopping for my teen so easy! I do all the same things for sleep. Plus, I try to stop eating a few hours before bed because that can help me. Progesterone helps me fall asleep. Magnesium too. Unfortunately, I'm still at the whim of my cycle and the times when my estrogen is low, it's hard to stay asleep through 2-4 am. Oh! If I'm emotionally upset about anything, it impacts my sleep. I sometimes have to leave the bedroom (I try not to lie awake for more than 20 minutes thereabouts) and I'll go do yoga nidra with my two favourite yoga nidra teachers: Jason Crandell and Tias Little (both on Glo). I can feel the switch from energy in my thinking, racing brain to energy moving out into all parts of my body by focusing my brain on physical sensation. I'd like to be able to do this all on my own in my own bed but it's easier with a guide. It feels a little bit like I have to wake up a little to get out of that thinking brain in order to switch gears and get back into my body to fall back to sleep, if that makes sense.
Makes total sense. And I could have used some yoga nidra last night! Thank you for the reminder; I'm a huge fan of Glo and Jason Crandell so I don't know why I never think of that at 3 am. Maybe because I'm kicking off the covers in frustration and mopping up the dampness 😂. Sometimes the night sweats seem to follow a pattern in my cycle (low estrogen), but not always. I also find that when things are emotional, it definitely disrupts my sleep. Along with alcohol, caffeine, intense workouts in the evening, too much water after 8 pm and I'm sure some other things that I can't remember, thank you brain fog. I haven't tried progesterone yet, but it's on my list for the next time that I speak with my doctor.
Friends - a fellow subscriber shared an awful experience with OptiqBlue so be careful if you decide to order from them. She was charged for 4 pairs of glasses instead of one pair, and her experience with their customer service has thus far not rectified the problem. I've also had good luck with https://us.boncharge.com/collections/blue-light-blocking-glasses in case anyone would like to try these as well. They look odd with the red lenses, but my eyes find them soothing if I'm working in the evening.
LOVE the glasses. Wonderful sleep advice.
I will come back to this again and again for the abdominal workout and the wise advice for sleep--then there's those glasses. Who knew?
I hope you enjoy the ab workout! Have you tried the red tinted blue blocking glasses? I find they help if I'm staring at a screen in the evening!
