I have Nicole Kidman curls... if I treat them right, but I've had it so ingrained in me by the corporate world, that curly ='s messy ='s disorganized ='s not a strong leader. It's a bit tricky to deprogram!
Isn't that so true? That corporate prefers smooth and sleek hair ... almost like they think those women will be more manageable than the women with the wild, frizzy hair... because maybe those women are untamed! 😂
Jealous! I always thought my big personality would be better expressed through big curly locks rather than the limp, straight threads my head was genetically destined to carry. I even tried to perm it several times when perming was all the rage. The most effect I ever achieved was one weird kink in the hair on the back of my head, giving the appearance from behind that I had just woken from a nap. Sigh. Agree though that seeking professional hair help in midlife makes a big difference to my head inside and out. I just feel better after a haircut. What has helped even more probably is joining the We Do Not Care Club. I worry less about my hair. And I take more naps!
Yes for the Do Not Care Club! I would love for everyone to share things they don't care about. First up for me? Caring if my curly hair is perfectly curled or frizzy. I do not care if it's camera ready every single day. Although let's face it, the list for the Do not Care Club is likely really long. Rock those limp, straight threads and know that your worth isn't tied to the color, shape, length or texture of your hair - or anything related to the physicality of your body. 🥰
I actually get a professional blow dry most every week because my hair is so difficult to do. I can wear it curly but it doesn't look good. I'll try these products?
Maybe try just one product and see if it works instead of investing in all of them? I admire you for getting a professional blow out each week - no wonder you always look so good on camera! Happy to recommend one if you can share what curl problem you are trying to solve. It is frizziness, inconsistent curls, limpness? Something else?
My curls have a mind of their own. No two hairwashing days are the same. I didn't appreciate my curly hair until my late 20s. Up until then, I hated it. I wanted to look like everyone else and have straight hair. I associate curls with being cute when what I really wanted to be was glamorous. Elaine from Seinfeld helped me get over being a curly girl, and now I wouldn't want it any other way. I've even had nightmares that I've chopped off my hair accidentally. My curls define me.

Untamed...They should be so lucky. 😂 The semiotics of hair! Foucault would have a field day. I want to try these products, if only to reclaim my time!

I have a local place that gives me a deal and I don’t need an appt. My main problem is my hair looks great wet but then gets big and frizzy.
Perfect and so needed for curly-haired girls. I'm a wavy and adore your hair!
Thank you, Mary! I love having curly hair, especially with all the humidity in the summer!
